WHAT'S HAPPENING AT LCC!

CREATIVE ARTS EXHIBIT AND RECEPTION JANUARY 29.  

Have you noticed the changes we are making at LCC near Volunteer Central?  We are starting a new ministry called Arts Alive that provides a venue for artists of all kind to display the creative gifts God has given them.  We are launching this new ministry by hosting a Creative Arts Exhibit and Reception on January 29 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.  We would love for you to be a part of it, so please plan on joining us then to view the displayed art, see live demonstrations and meet local artists.  The event is free and open to the public.   

GUATEMALA MISSION TRIP - Application Deadline is SUNDAY.

We will stay in a beautiful Team House and will connect with a number of ministries in Guatemala City. Unfortunately, we can only take 12 people, so early registration is critical.  If you desire to be a part of this trip please call Pastor Joe today at 843.384.1994.

LCC BUILD TEAM - Registration Deadline is approaching

Join us for a mission trip deep into the heart of Bluffton! We have partnered with The Town of Bluffton and Bluffton Self-Help to remodel some homes for our neighbors who are in great need. BIBLE INSTITUTE OF THE LOWCOUNTRY - begins Monday, January 30 at 6:30 p.m. Do you desire to know the Word of God on a deeper level? If so, the Bible Institute of the Lowcountry is for you. While the majority of the study is done online, classes will be held Mondays from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. The last class is May 14. For the Spring Term we will be studying Old Testament Survey 2 (1 Kings to Song of Solomon). You can begin anywhere in the process - it’s ok if this is your first Bible Institute Class!

Faith@Home Parenting Class - Sunday, January 29

Dear Kindergarten Parents,

Please join us for training on how to develop family prayer time in your home.

Each month, as part of our Faith at Home ministry, we partner with our parents  to teach a new faith skill for you to personalize and use at home.  January is the month to equip parents of Kindergarten age children in how to begin a family prayer time. Please plan on attending January 29 during your normal service time. 

Learning the faith practice of Family Prayer will make a dramatic difference in how your children view their relationship with God, and make your home a stronger place today and in the future.

A Christmas Story

Maybe you've never heard of George Frederick Handel but you've probably heard the famous Hallelujah Chorus from his 1741 work "Messiah."  Perhaps it has beome a bit cliche' nowadays as it is mostly used in commercials to signal the epiphany of an actor deciding to buy the perfect product; but the fact remains that "Messiah" is a fabulous, awe inspiring reflection of the coming King, Jesus. 

There is much lore about "Messiah" and whether Handel received the work under direct inspiration from God, or why King George II stood, when he heard the Hallelujah Chorus.

For to us a child is born,

As we enter our final week until Christmas, find time to forget about commercial Jesus, and fall in love again, with the loving, powerful, meek, King of Kings and Lord of Lords!  He did it all for YOU!

 

GUATEMALA MISSION TRIP: Deadline is Approaching

Is God leading you to travel with us to Guatemala March 17 t0 25, 2012?  Here are just a few of the things that we hope to accomplish on this trip:

Feeding ministries – to poor and children
Ministry to prostitutes – medical, encouragement, Bible study, beautification
Compassion ministry to disabled children in the hospital
Building ‘homes’ for a flood ravaged village 

We will stay in a very nice Team House, but some nights may be spent in villages close to our construction projects.

Unfortunately, we can only take 12 people, so early registration is critical.  Registration is not complete until you have turned in your deposit and application.

Application Deadline: January 22nd (application and $100 non-refundable deposit). Once the team fills up, we will have a waiting list for those who turn in deposits and applications. If an opening does not happen, you will receive your deposit back.

BEACH BAPTISM - Thank you!

We hope you were able to make it to our baptism last Sunday. It was a great time of family fun, eating together while listening to great music, AND of course, witnessing 26 people crossing an important milestone in their walk with God to be baptized. Congratulations! Special thanks to Carrabbas Restaurant on Hilton Head Island for donating and catering all the food for this special occasion!

CORE CLASSES (Do the Five) -  September 25 at 4:00 p.m.

Go deeper and learn practical ways to live the successful Christian life you’re hoping for. Join us for our next CORE CLASSES, Sunday, September 25 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. We have a class for each of the Five Purposes of LCC. CONNECT, GROW, SERVE, REACH, WORSHIP. FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY (FPU) - New Session starts Monday, September 26 

Join in Dave Ramsey’s “Great Recovery” by taking our next FPU session which will be offered Monday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The first class entitled “Super Saving” is FREE to the public. BIBLE INSTITUTE OF THE LOWCOUNTRY

Dear LowCountry family,

There is excitement all over the place at LCC! Just think of what’s in store over the coming weeks…

-        A brand new sermon series on the Beatitudes (“Happily Ever After”)
-        Core Classes (“Do the Five!)
-        The inaugural classes of the Bible Institute of the LowCountry
-        A return to three services (9/12)
-        Another beach baptism in September
-        A Vision & Worship Night
-        A month of outreach
-        …and much, much more.
 
This is a thrilling period for us. Yet, at the same time, we face our most difficult economic challenges. At this point we are facing an enormous shortfall in meeting our budget – and this after cutting our budget to the bone over the past 18 months. This daunting shortfall, if it continues, will severely curtail our ministries. We simply won’t be able to continue the same level of provision of ministry and outreach that are foundational to who we are as LCC.
 
We do need your help. I am certain that we all face personal financial challenges, so I am even more reticent to ask for your help right now. All I ask is that you prayerfully consider what God would have you do. We are asking every LCC family to consider giving $100 – above their regular giving – to LCC by this Sunday, August 15th. Darlene and I have already given an “above and beyond” gift, and are increasing the percentage of our tithe to LCC. If we all participate, we can erase this shortfall. If the Lord has blessed you such that you can give to your church during this crucial time, I would be most grateful. You may give this coming Sunday, through the mail to the church office, or securely on-line through our website.
 
Last night, we video-interviewed a number of LCCers, who shared their stories of God’s work in their lives. I am amazed at what Jesus does, and how He does it. God has used, and is continuing to use, our church to change lives and bring people into the kingdom. Hearing these stories – which you will hear and see in coming weeks – has made me even more committed to doing what God has called us to do.

Your regular support makes it possible, and your help will take us forward. Let’s keep our faith in God, trusting Him as Jehovah Jireh, our Provider. We will report to you the results of our special “above and beyond” giving on August 22nd. Please do carefully consider what the Lord would have you do.

   We are pleased to announce that Cynthia Cullen has been appointed to the position of Programming Director at LCC. Cynthia, and her husband Todd, have been serving LCC at our Hilton Head Island Campus for the past three years.
 
Cynthia is assuming oversight of all worship, technical arts, and communication for both campuses. She will share her time as a worship leader between both campuses (this means she will be leading at our Bluffton campus about half of the time). We will also regularly be led in worship by Pastor Rob and “outside” worship leaders such as Brandon and Kim Smith who were with us two Sunday’s ago.
 
We are excited about all Cynthia brings to LowCountry. She has been a worship leader and a programming director in church plants (The Gallery Church in NYC) and mega-churches (NorthStar Church in metro Atlanta). She is a graduate of Liberty University and is an accomplished singer/songwriter. She also regularly writes an engaging blog. She is married to LCC’s Hilton Head Island Campus Pastor, Todd, and the proud mother of Sydney (5) and Sean (3). Welcome, Cynthia!
